Director of Plant Operations

The Director of Operations plans, directs and coordinates the operations of our 20,000 square foot beverage manufacturing and HPP tolling facility.  This is a key position that supervisors three department managers and works closely with the CEO and CFO to formulate policies and manage daily operations.  T

The Director of Operations will:

  • Provide overall direction and guidance to the operation with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability.
  • Ensure on-time delivery, productivity and cost targets are met, while meeting or exceeding customer requirements for quality, delivery, and responsiveness. 
  • Drive initiatives to foster a best-in-class safety culture.

Job Duties:

•     Partner with the CEO to coordinate the operational planning process throughout the Company, gaining active participation of key members of management.

•     Responsible for end-to-end supply chain, manufacturing, facilities management, and cost improvement.

•     Develop and sustain an environment of continuous improvement, optimizing schedule adherence, refining operational efficiency, and increasing profitability and productivity.

•     Build, train, sustain and motivate an operations team capable of achieving all productivity targets and output requirements to service customers with product on time, in full and right first time.

•     Establish clear plant goals and objectives in alignment with corporate strategies and business initiatives.

•     Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations and policies.

•     Maintain compliance with State & Federal environmental regulations.

•     Guarantee plant operates safely and in compliance with OSHA and regulatory mandates.

•     Ensure plant is operated in compliance with all environmental regulatory standards.

•     Identification, development, and execution of cost savings / productivity projects.

•     Collaborate with Director of Finance and the evolving inventory/procurement team on management of purchases, to include materials, supplies, and utilities.

•     Foster a positive, motivated work environment.

•     Ensure that operations meet the company’s sustainability goals and social enterprise mission to grow the local food economy through increased access to food processing technology like HPP.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in relative industry required.
  • Minimum five years of plant leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Knowledge of transportation, logistics, and distribution
  • Mastery level experience with ERP and inventory management software
  • Leadership, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and dependability
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work holidays, weekends or different shifts as needed
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental regulations and labor law
  • Willingness to travel overnight, and to work night and weekend shifts for special projects
  • Ability to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability work under special work conditions such as extreme heat or cold.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in related field.
  • Industry knowledge of co-manufacturing and ingredient sourcing
  • Forklift certification and experience training staff with material moving equipment
  • HACCP certification
  • PCQI certification
  • SQF experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal

Status:                              Full Time, Exempt

Compensation:               Competitive salary based on experience

Sanitation Lead

The Sanitation Lead is responsible for ensuring the proper cleaning and sanitation of production facilities and equipment used in the manufacturing of juice and other ready-to-eat products.  This team leader positions works independently and often with other production workers to achieve outstanding sanitation results.  The Sanitation Lead reports to the Food Safety Manager and works closely with the Production Manager.  The Sanitation Lead will from time to time participate in production work.   

This position will report to work in Albuquerque at the food manufacturing facility near Balloon Fiesta Park.  On the job training is provided, however prior experience in food manufacturing is required.

Tasks:
  • Perform daily sanitation of all processing lines.
  • Promotes a safe work environment through knowledge of the sanitation program and commitment to a safe work place for all..
  • Coordinates all daily, weekly, monthly sanitation activities within the processing plant as well as the grounds surrounding the processing plant, as required by the master sanitation schedule.
  • Responsible for managing inventory controls of a supply of cleaning chemicals necessary for the operation of the cleaning program and in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations.
  • Works with Food Safety Manager to develop and implement new methods, procedures, and systems to improve quality and food safety performance, determine and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead, motivate and develop sanitation and production personnel to achieve outstanding manufacturing and sanitation results.
  • Train sanitation and production personnel in best practices, safety, to understand MDS/SDS information, and the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Responsible for filling out daily sanitation logs, performance reports and shift paperwork.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years related work experience in food sanitation operations, procedures, chemicals and program standards for food manufacturing.

  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English; bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, including electronically.

  • Ability to reach and understand chemical labels.
  • Flexibility of schedule to work different shifts and/or potential longer shift hours or overtime as needed

Status: Hourly, Part-Time or Full-Time (30+ hours/week minimum)

Compensation:                $15.00-$18.00/Hour

Production Line Worker

Production Line Workers set up and operate equipment to produce cold-pressed juice and other ready-to-eat foods. They are responsible for following correct operating procedures for food safety and product formulation, monitoring quality all the way through final bottling and case packing of products, and for sanitation of the equipment and processing area.

This position will report to work in Albuquerque at the food manufacturing facility near Balloon Fiesta Park.  A minimum of 1-year of previous food manufacturing experience is required.

Tasks:

  • Record production and test data for each product batch.
  • Follow recipes to produce goods to product specifications.
  • Set up, operate, tend, break down and sanitize equipment used to manufacture and bottle juice.
  • Select and measure or weigh ingredients.
  • Inspect and pack the final product.
  • Sanitize work environment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Commitment to quality team work
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write and speak English; bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Flexibility of schedule to work different shifts and/or potential longer shift hours or overtime as needed
  • Minimum 1-year experience working in food manufacturing
  • Ability to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability work under special work conditions such as extreme heat or cold.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in food manufacturing
  • Experience with food safety compliance
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principals
  • Experience with OSHA

HPP Production Worker

HPP Production Workers load and unload items for HPP processing in a cold work environment.  They are responsible for following correct operating procedures for food safety and occupational health and safety, monitoring quality all the way through final packaging inspection, case packing and palletizing of products, and for sanitation of the equipment and storage areas in the HPP room.

This position will report to work in Albuquerque at the food manufacturing facility near Balloon Fiesta Park.  On the job training is provided, however prior experience in food manufacturing is preferred.

Tasks:
  • Load and unload packaged food items in a cold room.
  • Label products, packing items and sorting material.
  • Pack and store materials and products
  • Follow GMP processes
  • Maintain a clean work area, machines, equipment and products.
  • Use electric pallet jacks for material movement. 
  • Maintain accurate counts of product production.
Required Qualifications:
  • Commitment to quality team work
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Flexibility of schedule to work different shifts and/or potential longer shift hours or overtime as needed
  • Experience working in warehouse environment.
  • Ability to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability work under special work conditions such as extreme heat or cold

Status:                                Part Time or Full Time, Hourly

Compensation:                $12.00-$15.00
