Food Batchmaker

Food Batchmakers set up and operate equipment to produce cold-pressed juice and other ready-to-eat foods.  They are responsible for following correct operating procedures for food safety and product formulation, monitoring quality all the way through final bottling and case packing of products, and for sanitation of the equipment and processing area.

This position will report to work in Albuquerque at a new food manufacturing facility, that will open in March 2021 at 5600 Venice Avenue NE.  In the meantime, a qualified candidate must be able to commute to Santa Fe for six weeks of training.

Tasks:

  • Record production and test data for each product batch.
  • Follow recipes to produce goods to product specifications.
  • Set up, operate, tend, break down and sanitize equipment used to manufacture and bottle juice.
  • Select and measure or weigh ingredients.
  • Inspect and pack the final product. 
  • Sanitize work environment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Commitment to quality team work
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write and speak English; bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Flexibility of schedule to work different shifts and/or potential longer shift hours or overtime as needed
  • Ability to commute to Santa Fe facility for six weeks of on-the-job training
  • Skills and experience in or comparable with food service operations
  • Ability to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability work under special work conditions such as extreme heat or cold.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in food manufacturing
  • Experience with food safety compliance
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principals
  • Experience with OSHA
Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager will provide leadership within the facility to drive positive change through influence and example. This individual will be working with plant operations to build and maintain an effective Food Safety and Quality culture within the facility.

The Quality Assurance Manager will: 

  • Have the responsibility and authority to lead the development and implementation of the Food Safety Plan and play a key role in the communication of information related to the implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.
  • Contribute to the development of processes to meet and exceed the expectations of co-packaging clients, ensuring that all finished products are safe and meet product specifications.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure daily plant quality and food safety operations follow company policies, procedures, customer requirements, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide all training to plant personnel concerning FSP, OSHA, FSMA and other regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure adequate allocation of resources to support the FSP, including monitoring and validating effectiveness and compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Review the HACCP system and all prerequisite programs.
  • Research new cost-reducing solutions to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Assist clients with the development of new products for co-packaging, from conceptualization to launch.
  • Conduct in-house laboratory testing and coordinate all third party laboratory testing
  • Manage plant complaint investigations ensuring a thorough, effective, timely, and customer facing response. Monitoring compliance to customer expectations and specifications.
  • Provide reports and relevant information to the organization’s top management on the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in science related field OR minimum 1-year prior experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance role in a food manufacturing setting
  • Experience with Better Process Control
  • Full understanding of FDA/USDA regulations and GMP in a food manufacturing facility
  • Ability to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability work under special work conditions such as extreme heat or cold.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs and other computer skills
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work holidays, weekends or different shifts as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel overnight, and to work night and weekend shifts for special projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science related field
  • 2-year prior experience in QC/QA role in food manufacturing facility
  • Experience with basic in-house lab testing for safety compliance
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principals
  • HACCP certification
  • PCQI certification
  • SQF experience
  • Experience with OSHA

Office Manager & Bookkeeper

The Office Manager / Bookkeeper is responsible for various administrative and customer relations duties.  In our start-up company’s small office environment, you will be part of a small team of professionals providing support to the entire office.  In this role, you will regularly communicate with our customers, assist with the processing of orders and purchasing, handle day-to-day bookkeeping, assist with HR compliance, resolve IT issues, play a lead role in handling freight logistics and other duties.  This position absolutely requires the ability to multitask and manage concurrent tasks with competing priorities.  You will report directly to the Director of Finance.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with basic bookkeeping working with Director of Finance preparing bi-weekly payroll, some A/R, A/P, data entry.
  • Perform HR responsibilities and onboarding of new employees, including managing benefits sign up process.
  • Be completely responsible for the office, including ordering supplies, greeting visitors, answering phones, maintaining office condition, obtaining mail, coordinating necessary repairs, etc.  
  • Create purchase orders for all managers on a regular basis for parts and supplies, working closely with the Director of Finance on proper procurement process and record keeping.
  • Assist with shipping duties, including creating bills of lading and ecommerce fulfillment.
  • Help to resolve IT issues in the office, as well as contribute to facility wide IT management.
  • Use QuickBooks, Excel and ERP as primary software applications daily.
  • Provide general support for administrative tasks to the CEO.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree preferred, High School equivalency required.
  • At least 2+ years of relevant office management experience, including proven bookkeeping experience.
  • Must be able to communicate intelligently, articulate thoughts and objections clearly.
  • Must have an overall professional presentation and attitude essential for customer-facing job role.
  • Must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and have excellent time management skills.
  • Must be able to solve problems and work without supervision.
  • Flexible, willing to take on other duties as assigned or as needed.
  • High level of technical fluency with both QuickBooks and Excel and excellent computer skills overall.
  • Ability work under special work conditions such as extreme heat or cold.
  • Ability lift 20 pounds.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work holidays, weekends or different shifts as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Prior experience in administrative role for a food manufacturing facility
  • Cost/inventory accounting experience, including intimate knowledge of COGS throughout the manufacturing process
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal
Truck Driver – Weekly Denver Route

We are seeking a dependable and organized delivery driver / company representative to complete refrigerated deliveries on Mondays and Tuesdays to stores, spas and cafes from Los Lunas to Santa Fe, including stocking and merchandizing product for customers.

The job requires:

  • Valid driver’s license,
  • 5 years clean driving record,
  • experience driving large vehicles, such as  Box truck,
  • requires excellent communication skills and demeanor with customers,
  • alertness, focus and detail-orientation, and
  • ability to lift and manipulate boxes that weigh up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive trucks / vans that do not require a CDL,
  • Case pack goods for distribution to wholesale customers,
  • Pick orders and organize goods in a logical manner for delivery,
  • Ensure contents are properly secured inside of truck to prevent breakage or damage;
  • Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinations,
  • Obtain signatures to confirm complete deliveries with clients,
  • Communicate with management as needed,
  • Confirm contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document,
  • Perform inspections and record temperatures of vehicle prior to and following each trip,
  • Always ensure vehicle is kept clean,
  • Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.),
  • Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered,
  • Follow delivery schedule,
  • Maintain detailed driving logs,
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations,
  • Obey all traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions,
  • Comply with DOT regulations, and
  • Make safety a priority at all times.

Working conditions are normal for a plant manufacturing ready-to-eat refrigerated products.  Food safety practices are followed and upheld to the full extent.  Work will involve living of raw materials, finished cases of product or bags of refuse.  You will be required to wear face masks, observe hygiene and social distancing policies and wear safety glasses during sanitation.  The work environments is cold and requires standing and walking during the full shift.
